Music is the life blood of the soul
I've been singing all of my life. I joined my first chorus at 10 years old, and I was hooked. From there I went on to sing in school choruses, community choruses, church choirs and singing special music for church services and the occasional weddings: everything from classical, to hymns to pop, folk and rock. From a young age I sang alto primarily because of my natural ability to hear and sing harmonies. But as a young adult, I took Opera lessons for a while and discovered my soprano range. I spent several years doing regional musical theatre with the Red Oak Music Theatre company in Lakewood, New Jersey. I also spent several years as a singing member and Board Member of the Seattle Lesbian and Gay Chorus (SLGC). I took up Vocal Jazz a few years ago, and learned how to solo and work with a band. This has changed everything: Jazz is such a great teacher.
Harmonizing is my first love, but I am enjoying building a repertoire of standards, and branching out into R&B as a soloist.
I am available for front and back-up vocals for live gigs or recording projects.
